1914 Soldier NO FRILLS BUT PLENTY OF GUTS

An apt description of the bravery, tenacity and heroism of the men who have fought with the Staffordshire Regiments over the last 300 years. The Museum vividly tells the story of the two famous old County Regiments, the North and the South Staffords, and their successor the STAFFORDSHIRE REGIMENT.

FOLLOW the Staffords from the gruelling heat of the Caribbean, where the Regiment’s first battle honours were won in the 1700s, through the Crimean and two World Wars to their present-day role of peace-keepers worldwide.

EXPERIENCE our full-scale outdoor World War 1 trench complete with sound effects. Feel something of the horrors which our soldiers endured on the Western Front.

MEMORIES of World War 2 are recalled: the mosquito-infested jungles of Burma, the glider-borne soldiers of Arnhem, the desperate battle for Normandy…. The Home Front is not forgotten with reconstructions of the familiar Anderson shelter where families took refuge during air raids.

DISCOVER the heroic stories of the 13 Victoria Cross winners. See the pocket Bible that stopped a German bullet and the ‘tin hat’ that saved an officer’s life. Try on uniforms, build a bridge or explore the story of Private Wilf Wright whose life unfolds on screen at the touch of a button. Marvel at the armoured fighting vehicles.
