There are displays, hands-on exhibits and regular special exhibitions and events. But above all
the Museum is about people – the extraordinary “ordinary” soldiers, the heroes,
the Victoria Cross winners……
Facilities include extensive free parking for cars and coaches,
toilets (including disabled), refreshments, picnic area and a souvenir shop. Everything is at ground
level so that almost everything is fully
accessible.
The basic cost is £2.00 for adults, £1.00 for children and £1.50 concessions
(students/seniors).
The Museum is open all year round from Tuesday to Friday 10.00 – 16.30 with additional opening
in the Summer (1st April – 31st October) on Saturdays, Sundays and Bank Holiday Mondays from
12.30 – 16.30. Visits outside these hours by prior arrangement. How about visiting us one pleasant
Summer evening?
War and Peace: may we also suggest combining your visit to Whittington with one to the National
Memorial Arboretum, a few minutes drive away at Alrewas? There you can stroll around the 150 acre
site which is being planted as a living tribute to the peoples of the twentieth century. Reflect
on our history with the numerous Veterans Plots and enjoy a period of quiet contemplation in the
Millennium Chapel of Peace and Forgiveness where two minutes silence, last post and reveille is played
and observed at 11 o’clock on every day of the year. Information: 01283 792333.
